Just a few odds and ends of the week so far:
  • Last night's season premiere of South Park was awesome. There was a lot of World of Warcraft animation in it as the boys teamed up to knock off a high level player who was continually killing them in the game. [livejournal.com profile] aceofspace has been trying to get me to play for some time, I can see the attraction.
  • Some nutjob mom in Georgia is trying to get her kids' school to ban the Harry Potter books. She says that they are promoting witchcraft. It always burns my ass to hear someone promoting censorship, especially when it comes to a book series that has actually encouraged kids to read these days. Next she'll want to ban a book because it "has that word in it" or dares to step outside her narrow world view. A hex on her...
  • Ugh.. the gym last night.. so sore... the highlight was a big burly bear with olive skin and a thick black beard working out just outside the cardio cinema where I could watch him while I was on the elliptical trainer. I said hey to him in the locker room and he's got a deep, grizzly voice. Le sigh...
  • Why is it when you order something from online, you get flooded with catalogs from them? I ordered something from a quilting magazine for my mom, sent it to her address and everything and now I'm getting all sorts of "Nancy's Notions" and other craft catalogs. I'm sure my mailman is loving that...

I'm lumping that anti-Harry Potter lady in the same camp of crazies as this guy (http://www.boingboing.net/2006/10/04/man_demands_that_boo.html), who asked that his daughter's school ban Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451...a story about banned literature and book burning. Even more ironic, this all happened during Banned Books Week (http://www.ala.org/bbooks)!

LOL! I love how some parents just live in a world where they believe that their precious darlings don't hear or read swear words. I suspect that he's got more growing up to do than she does.

... and he's never read the book... not surprising!
