Whenever I return from a trip, I often find that Murphy or Maggie (or both) have left me a wonderful hairball upchuck on the carpet somewhere. It's natural I think as they get nervous when I'm gone, shed more, lick more, and cough them up more. I just wish they'd try to get to the tile surfaces versus the carpet. So after some spray-on carpet cleaner things are good, but I occasionally rent a rug doctor and just give the whole house a once over.

After my last trip I decided to buy a real carpet cleaner for general use (Murphy had coughed up two messes during my last absence). At a local discount department store who shall remain nameless, I was debating between the Bissell and the Hoover and a $20 price difference. This very cute cubby sort with glasses, soul patch, and shaved head walked by and I could tell he was staring at me. Was I being cruised? Was he judging the guy buying a carpet cleaner? I wasn't sure and, except for my checking out his nice rear end and his legs, my radar wasn't buzzing.

He shyly returned and told me not to by the Bissell, but get the Hoover. He said that the Bissell had caused him trouble and didn't work well, but the Hoover cleaned things very easily. I thought, does he work here??? I was stunned. I told him that when he walked by I thought that he was wanting to say something. The very nice guy said that he and his wife had pets and were very happy with the Hoover and he didn't want to see me buy the other knowing it was a crappy product. Wife? Damn...

I thanked him for the input and smiled at him. He said no problem and smiled back and went on his merry way, giving me one last glimpse of a nice rear end before it turned the aisle corner. I have the Hoover at home and will give it good tryout this weekend. After all, how could I not buy it after the cute straight guy endorsed it... :)

How often do you brush your cats? A lot of people think that they can stop brushing when the cats get past that initial spring shedding ... but then in the hotter months of the year the fine undercoat should be brushed away also. I keep telling BooBoo that one of these days I'm going to knit a sweater out of her.

I try to brush the monsters when I get a chance, but when I'm out for a couple of weeks, I know my neighbor who watches them doesn't brush them. When I've been gone for a few days, they start getting nervous and shedding a bit more.

I keep asking how they are not bald, considering what I vacuum up.

I don't know too many straight guys who freely give advice on carpet cleaners...hmmmmm. Atleast you got some good fantasy material out of it.

I'm surprised he didn't give you a detailed review of its sucking action or something else equally innuendo-filled:)

LOL.. well, that's how clueless I am. Perhaps I should have taken the hose off the display unit and caressed it suggestively... ;D

I agree, don't get a Bissell - they clean well but break easily and regularly and Bissell don't care to hear about it.

Well, I don't plan on using it often, but for what I paid for the one I bought, I need it to last.

We didn't use ours too often but something broke every second time. The thing isn't very user servicable. You made a good choice... thank goodness for your handsome advisor ;)

Well, when a man makes a point to bring her up, I don't question it.

Maybe it was a hint that she was nearby and he couldn't do anything at the moment. Or maybe your sexy presence was just converting him over right there.

Maybe you WERE being cruised. I know several divorced gay men. But to be honest, I am so oblivious to these situations. If this had happened to me, I would have thanked the guy, bought the Hoover, and not thought twice about him giving me advice. Later, sometimes much later, often while telling someone else, it would occur to me (or my listener) that I was being cruised.

I know there are a lot of divorced gay men out there (and most are handsome studmuffins like [livejournal.com profile] tbone1961 and [livejournal.com profile] nlotic).

I was wondering if he was a married guy cruising or not.. :)

I highly recomend the Spot Bot. It works great on pet stains. And you just set it down and walk away while it does all the work.

Oooh.. that would be neat, though I bought the Hoover to do the whole house. The spot bott sounds like a good buy.
