My mom recently purchased a photo scanner and printer, sans computer, to print and copy family photos. Her goal is to create a family quilt using photos printed on special cloth-backed paper. It's a cool idea, I look forward to seeing the final result eventually. This has us looking through lots of family photos. She went to her sister's and got many more, including a few that made me laugh.

This photo tickled me. It's my mom when she was in her early 20's. We think the picture was taken around 1964. The sight of her "parking" it next to the sign just made me giggle. Click the photo for the larger version.

It was taken by my Uncle Jack, Mom's oldest brother who was killed while in the military in 1965. Never knowing him, I'm often stuck imagining what he was like. Mom tells me things, but it's not like knowing him. The picture tells me something about his sense of humor. He seemed to enjoy a funny scene like this one. Mom swears that she doesn't remember him taking the picture. I get the impression he was a bit sneaky with the camera, much like me sometimes.

I also found one photo of me from LONG ago. It's a picture of me from 1979 from the family easter egg hunt. I hid this one behind the cut. If you can't laugh at yourself...

Check out the hair!

That photo of your Mom is great! I love it! Wow ... what a find!

And you know what the Easter photo makes me realize??? I don't remember what you looked like as a little kid without the photo! I try to think back and, well, all I come up with is a smaller version of you now! That photos would have been about the time we met for the first time ... and from that photo alone, you look like a stranger. How strange ...

I love that photo of Mom, it's hard for me to imagine her in her 20's. Photos help :)

As for me, you're not the first to look at that photo and wonder who it was. I showed it to my brother-in-law and my stepfather and neither could recognize that kid as me. I guess I have changed quite a bit since I was little. My hair is much darker, my face is fuller, and well, I was much thinner as a kid... Here's me in 2nd grade....

hee hee ... but that LOOKS like you! I see you in there! Didn't you have glasses back then? I remember glasses! But then, am I remembering later?

This makes me feel ancient!

This was my first/second grade photo (remember I didn't stay in first long enough to have one made there). I didn't start wearing glasses until I was 14. I had good vision until then.

Good grief. My memory is shot.
