While I do wear the shirt and tie on occasion, I don't always enjoy it. After walking from hotel to Metro station, ride, and walk from Metro station to class, I was sweating through my clothes. Clean shirt and tie looks great, sweaty shirt and tie looks ... less than great. Class went well today, with the exception of one student who got sick and I ran to CVS to get him some antacids (sweating again) and a little drama between other instructors. Apparently the class is business casual and that applies to instructors too, so I have new shirts and ties for another day, but not for this class.

After we got out late, I got a call from a 411 friend named Jim. He lives near the hotel and agreed to meet me for dinner. Jim and I went to Annie's Paramount Steakhouse, as [livejournal.com profile] md_mancub said it was a gay tradition. Nice atmosphere, good food and very good company. Jim is a very interesting guy and incredibly handsome. He has the most attractive eyes. After dinner we hit an ice cream shop whose name I don't recall. Cafe au Lait ice cream is wonderful.

Jim the Bear
This is Jim, see what I mean by handsome

I told him about my clothing issues and asked if there was an Old Navy or something where I could buy some inexpensive shirts. The sweet guy took me to Old Navy across town to get them before we headed back to my hotel. I hugged him fiercely and gave him a big smooch before he had to head home, he's the best.

oh he is handsome you bet.

Such a cute smile and I can only imagine his eyes being as you descibed.

He was indeed kind enough to assist in getting some dress casual shirts for your classes.

WOoOOOF!!! He cute!! So are you...hehehe...

By the way, what is "Business Casual" these days? It used to be polo type shirt with dockers. Has that changed at all? I know that's what we wear at meetings that we go to.

Jus' wonderin...

Hugs!

LOL.. thanks :)

To my knowledge, business casual is still a collared shirt and Dockers, I think, though some students will wear jeans and a nice shirt. They're sitting in a chair all day on a computer so no one really complains about jeans.

Glad you liked Annie's.

I forgot the name of that Ice Cream place (it's on 17th and S or maybe it's 17th and R?), but the ice cream there is good!

Yeah Annies is a tradition. I used to love to go there. The bears used to have some meet and greet thingy there years ago. Is the Trio still there (down the street)? They had the most colorful waitstaff.

Anyway, yeah you sweat (a lot) in the South when you go outside and move around. The thing I loved about DC is that unlike NYC, the museums are all free.

First date and you go shopping. He's a keeper. ;-)

Hey there... not sure if Trio is still there, unfortunately, I'm staying on the West side of the Circle.

And Jim is a hunk, isn't he? Sigh.. all the good ones are so far from me it seems :)

He isn't that far. Right now anyway. ;-) He looks familiar. I live 4 hours from DC, I really need to just get on 95 and visit more often.

I didn't see your shirts, of course, but couldn't you have just taken off the tie and called it business-casual? *shrug*

Well, all of my shirts that I brought for class were long-sleeved, I don't think ties look right on a short-sleeved shirt. I really wanted something cooler because the days are hot and the classroom is a bit warm too.

Sigh.. I already have plans for Wednesday night and Thursday night and I fly home Friday.

.. but I'll let you in on a little secret. I'm back here in four weeks for a two week class. Would that be a good time frame to schedule dinner? :)

Old Navy is awesome. It's funny how you seem to find a lot of clothes you like when you have no money.
