kybearfuzz: (Big Bear U)

My recent entry about being attracted to greying beards and some of the responses made me think I should explain a few things about my attraction to bears of the daddy persausion.

First, let me say that I'm not into the daddy-son relationship. If that works for you, that's great, but I have an independent nature of sorts that wouldn't do well in a relationship where an older and/or dominant person told me what to do (though I've heard the submissive partner actually has more power, but I digress).

In the shallowest form of expression, the sake of pure lust and attraction, I have say that I admire the greying beard of nice stocky daddy bear. I told this to my sister once and got a peculiar look as she still doesn't understand why I'm not attracted to Brad Pitt or Ben Affleck. She threatened to have my gay card revoked for my supposed offense, but I reminded her that only [livejournal.com profile] _decibel_ can do that.

So what is it about the daddy bears? It's hard to explain. Something about the look of a mature bear, the broad shoulders, the contrast between the colors of his hair, etc., just gives him a very sensual appearance in some respects. If you look at photos of them as younger men, they were generally thinner with more definition, but the aging process does a bear body good in that it tends to fill them out in the shoulders, chest, and tummy areas, giving them that stocky appearance that drives me wild. Even guys in that transitional state of the late 30's and 40's can show signs of future hot daddy bearness.

Let's use Robin Williams for example. As a young actor on Mork & Mindy, he was cute and funny, but look at him older with the greying beard in Awakenings and Good Will Hunting and he's much more bearish and attractive (to me).

George Clooney gained a bit of weight and wore a greying beard for his role in Syriana, which made his woof factor increase dramatically.

I often wonder how attractive Jeremy Piven will turn out in a decade or so (hopefully he'll stop shaving that chest). One of my current crushes is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays the father to the Winchesters on the WB show Supernatural. Though not really old enough to be the father to two men in their 20's, he plays the older guy well, especially when he sports a beard. Okay, I'm digressing again....

Now am I solely attracted to men with only this appearance? Well, no, there are other characteristics, both physical and personal, that draws my attention. The waiter at [livejournal.com profile] _decibel_'s birthday dinner was atypical in appearance for my tastes (as Brian ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub) pointed out to me), as he was slimmer, but he was cute and had a great personality. Would I date a mature man? I think so, though I am not sure how comfortable things would turn out if the age gap was considerable, though I am trying not to put a limit on age. Ideally, someone closer to my age would be preferred, but not set in stone. I am just happy that when I do find Mr. Right (or Mr. Close Enough) I know that he'll just get more attractive to me as he and I age together.

Okay.. enough rambling by me...

I agree that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is very attractive. You can also catch him on Grey's Anatomy, where he plays a heart patient who's romancing one of the MDs. Mike and I are always joking about that - how his sons on Supernatural can never find him because he's always in the hospital!

Oh, I think he's very handsome. Something about those dark eyes :)

...and that's good reasoning why the sons can't find him! I'm going to have to watch Grey's Anatomy in repeats :)

I think I hit a couple of your likes, more than I like to admit to, like the aging, getting more rounded ect. But it very nice to know that there are hot men like yourself who find old geezer like myself attractive. Thank you. Bghairyman
