Random Questions
Apr. 21st, 2006 08:35 amSlow morning here, still tired and sore from yesterday's events. Ned Flanders is complaining about his computer again so I'm listening to iPod tunes to drown things out.
So here are some random questions from the internet and other sources....

So here are some random questions from the internet and other sources....
- What does your screen name mean?
- Would you like to change your screen name?
- How different are you now than you were five years ago?
- What Saturday Night Live character is your favorite?
- Get Fuzzy, Garfield or Opus.. and why?
My Answers...
- I was just trying to create a screen name for chatting and stuff. I knew I wanted to reference Kentucky (and the KY jelly reference was unintended but seems funny now), I felt I was more bear than cub, and "fuzz" had a double meaning as I am somewhat furry and also work for law enforcement (somewhat)... so "Kybearfuzz" was born.
- There are times I wish I had given it more consideration and selected something less cumbersome, but I'm known by it by so many and on so many sites, it would seem difficult to change it now. I like to keep it simple I guess.
- Oh, vast difference. Five years ago I was new at my current job and in the closet, a (bigger) mass of insecurities. If you talk to people who knew me back then and asked them to compare old me and current me, I think they'd say I'm more outgoing than I was before. Coming out was a big burden off the old shoulders and it's made me more social. Dating is fun too. So is homeowning. Oooh.. and sex...!
- I will always love Gilda Radner, her Roseanne Rosannadanna always made me laugh. The new SNL crew just doesn't cut it for me.
- I love them all, but Get Fuzzy has to win now. Bucky is plain evil and the cartoonist has a great sense of humor. Honestly, I haven't seen much of the new Opus.

Date: 2006-04-21 02:02 pm (UTC)2 Yes sometimes I wish I didn't have a bear related name because the bear scene is becoming a bit "tired" and I have widened my scope since those days. However like you I have been Bearfaced for so many years and on so many sites it would be difficult to change now. There are many imitators but I am the original Bearfaced - hear me roar!
3 Yes I quite different these days compared to 5 years ago, I am more tolerant, more political and have a more positive outlook on life. I am also more bald but I don't see that as a bad thing.
4 I don't know, I don't watch it. Do we get it here?
5 I don't know who fuzzy and Opus are!

Date: 2006-04-22 11:50 am (UTC)I'm not sure if they play Saturday Night Live on the BBC or not, but they do on Comedy Central if you have satellite cable.
As for Get Fuzzy, you can find the history here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_Fuzzy). It has links at the bottom so you can read past comic strips.
As for Opus, you can find the history here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opus_%28comic_strip%29). It has links at the bottom so you can read past comic strips.

Date: 2006-04-21 03:46 pm (UTC)2)Zorrosdad would be cute
3) I was too set in my ways when it came meeting people, I prefered 40+ (age range), now younger is almost a preferance. I find I have more in common with the young-ens)
4)I'd agree with you on the Gilda Radner answer you gave. Cone-Heads were cute. And that skit with Gilda and Murray, doing the "thank you MRS. Lubner" (think thats the Mrs. Name) then he would give her nuggies.
5) I like Garfield a lot when he 1st came out, then I learned about Opus and Bill, and liked them a lot. That was the extent of my comic readers. Never got into the comic craze.

Date: 2006-04-21 04:46 pm (UTC)Long time ago, in college, I had a friend that was from Thailand. His family was quite well-to-do, and he had grown up with 'manservants' as we called them. So he was a little... bossy. One day, in a heavy Thai accent he says to me as he's sitting at the kitchen table, "MIKIE! GO GET ME A COKE!" I was in the living room. My response was, "What am I..? Your bitch?!" He says, "No.. you're like a pet... do as I say... like my doggie... Mikiedoggie! Mikiedoggie! Go get me a Coke!" And I've kept the nickname ever since, which is apropos since I like dogs.
2. Would you like to change your screen name?
Not really. Some people seem to think it indicates a sexual preference which is something I never really thought of (see answer#1) at the time. The only other screen name that I really like is "mjm4" which I still have, and came from my first e-mail address of 16 years ago.
3. How different are you now than you were five years ago?
I'm not sure about that. I think my personality leveled out about six years ago. However, once thing that I've noticed is that as the years progress, I have become more and more content with myself despite my many anxieties. Although the body winds down, mentally I find myself looking forward to my future, and enjoying my present more than I did in the past.
4. What Saturday Night Live character is your favorite?
Phil Hartman's "Caveman Lawyer" will always have a place in my heart. But my classic favorites are "Doug and Wendy Whiner."
5. Get Fuzzy, Garfield or Opus.. and why?
I don't like Garfield. Right now Its "Get Fuzzy" because I love the optimistic naivete of the dog, and Bucky the Cat just rules. Like you, I haven't seen much of the new Opus but I really enjoyed it in the past.

Date: 2006-04-22 01:29 am (UTC)Well I'm mostly of Sicilian and Spanish ancestory and I grew up in a very Cuban neighborhood and later got rooted in Mexico when I lived on the west coast...especially when I lived just over the border and eventually in Tijuana. There is an old Rosemary Clooney song called Mambo italiano which sings about some of the blending of Sicilian and Cuban culture that was occuring in the 1950's....it's a perfect description for me (though for me there are parts of me that are very Mexican..."a mixed-up Siciliano" as the song says...so i couldn't think of a much more fitting screen name.....and the 71 relates to the year I was born.
2. Would you like to change your screen name?
I am quite happy with my screen name.
3. How different are you now than you were five years ago?
Very different. I was living in San Jose trying to get through college carless after getting kicked out from my San Franciscso apartment onto the street more or less from an exboyfriend that was getting way to messed up in the Cristal Meth scene. As hard as it was it was really a blessing in desguise.
What Saturday Night Live character is your favorite?
I was always partial to the killer bees and any character Gilda Radner would play. I am much more attached to the old SNL than the new.....I remember staying up really late to see the first episode. I was really excited.
Get Fuzzy, Garfield or Opus.. and why?
I don't know who get fuzzy is, I hated Opus, and I wasn't really crazy about garfield. At this point I think the cartoon is kind of played out and lame.
