I got back to town at last Friday morning. I know the week long trips aren't bad, but there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

After work, I went over to Brian's ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub) house to pick up the visiting [livejournal.com profile] need_2_chat. While Brian was at Chorus rehearsal, we went to the Levee for an early dinner at the Claddagh Pub and to catch a showing of Stay Alive.

To be proactive, we stopped by the AMC customer service desk to ask them to send ushers into the movie more often to try to curb the teenage brats allowed entry by the sad PG-13 rating most horror movies are shooting for these days. It must have worked because the usher was there (though still not enough in my book) and escorted several kids out of the theater for being loud and obnoxious.

The movie was good. I don't play the games, but I thought the premise and the game graphics were impressive. The story centers around a group of gamers who play a Beta copy of "Stay Alive," based on the real history of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a 17th century aristocrat who killed young women and bathed in their blood believing that it would keep her young. As the gamers go through the house, they find their friends murdered in real life just as they had been in the game. With such a disturbing historical character as Bathory, I'm surprised we've not seen movies with her as a character before.

Afterward, we hit Barnes & Noble where I got a good price on Eddie Izzard's Glorious and we stayed on the second floor area eyeballing any eye candy walking about. Brian picked up [livejournal.com profile] need_2_chat and I headed home. It was a good night, he's a lot of fun to hang out with. :)

I slept hard due to a lack of sleep the night before. My mom and stepdad are in town (after three no-show weekends in a row), so I'll have to skip tonight's Chorus concert. :(

Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, it was entertaining...
Would I see it again? Hmmm, maybe...
Buy the DVD? Eh, probably not.

Thanks Mark! It was a lot of fun hanging out with you as well. I hope you enjoy Glorious as much as I do. Thanks for dinner and I look forward to chatting with you more in the future.
