kybearfuzz: (Movie Buff)

I met up with Brian ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub) at the Levee tonight for dinner at the usual stand-by The Claddagh Irish Pub. I think we both tried something different. The food was good as usual. During our discussions, I explained that I thought about doing a photographic scavenger hunt this summer on LJ. I would provide an online gift certificate as a prize. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery in terms of participation??

Does this mustache make me look fat?
She's a Man, Baby!

After dinner, we went to see She's The Man. It was a very cute movie, Amanda Bynes is very comical. The story of a young girl who impersonates her twin brother at his bording high school in order to join their soccer team was very well done. It's not Shakespeare, but it is based on Twelfth Night according to the credits.

Given the target audience of this movie, I shouldn't have been surprised by the actions of the teenagers in this movie, but they surpassed even my expectations. These kids were climbing over seats, have loud conversations, and getting up and leaving several times. Brian tried to shush them, I told them to shut up myself with accompanying dirty looks, but to no real avail. We complained to the customer service desk at the theater who assured us that ushers had been walking into the movie to check. I never saw them if they did.

We ventured into Barnes & Noble, looking through some bargain books. One we both got was called "101 Things You Should Know How to Do," which is full of little facts like how to chop an onion, change a tire, change a diaper, buy a sofa, etc. It's a neat little book.

The other book I bought was "Who Would You Do?" The book has different scenarios about celebrities, asking which would have sex or other relations with. It's a quirky little book. For example, under "Golden Go-Go Girls" it asks:

"Who would you rather see perform a pole dance in a G-string at your local strip club -- Rue McClanahan, Betty White or Bea Arthur?"

I may have to make a periodic poll out of these... :)

Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, it's a cute movie.
Would I see it again? Eh, maybe.
Will I buy the DVD? Probably not.

I'm still working on the list, but if there is a enough interest, it'll be fun :)
