After work, I drove up to Indianapolis to visit one of my chat buddies who was in town for a conference. I went to see a movie at the local mall while he went into a conference meeting. We met afterward for dinner, eating at the Ram Restaurant and Brewery. The food was okay, but the company was great. Joe is a nice short, stocky daddy bear and one heck of a sweet guy.

Downtown Indy is actually rather impressive. It seems well laid out, has a slew of really good restaurants and activities in a short compact area, and the city itself seems to be very clean. I wish Cincinnati had this kind of downtown life at night.

Joe and I parted company around 11 PM as he had meetings the next day and I had a 2 1/2 hour car ride ahead of me. On the way I started getting very drowsy, so I pulled off to a rest area and caught a 30 minute cat nap. It's amazing that a brief snooze can revitalize me so much.

When I got back to Northern KY, I decided this early in the morning would be a great time to get my grocery shopping done (i.e. there was no food in the house). I'm going to have to go gorcery shopping in the middle of the night more often, no annoying customers in my way. So now it's 4 AM and I need to get to bed... and since my folks canceled their visit this weekend (again), I'm totally free...

You must be sleeping quite deeply these days. I used to go grocery shopping on Friday nights after 10pm, it was at first sort of depressing but then I realized how much faster it went and how little stress it caused.

FYI, I'll be in Indianapolis in late April for work. Come visit me! :P

This is my first real weekend free at home in a long time too... I think all I'll do is try to find someone to drag to see V for Vendetta...

I'm tempted to see that movie, but I was in the mood for something lighter, so Brian and I went to see She's the Man.

Yes, I love shopping at night...hardly anyone out, and no little kids running around screaming!

It certainly does make a difference, though you do have to dodge the large pallets of stock they put out.

I have rehearsal from 1-4 today but am free after. Give me a call if you want to grab dinner, see a movie, hit the bowling alley, stalk tourists, find another rest stop and do more than sleep, etc.

Im from Indy. I really like the city too. Guess you probably went to Circle Centre Mall to watch the movie. Ram Rest. is a cool place to eat. I've been there a couple of times.

I did go to Circle Centre Mall to see it. That mall is incredible, four stories of stores and very busy. I liked the restaurant and would love to go back.

.. and I'm sure you'll be heading home a bit more often now that you'll be closer :)
