The Home Buying Dream
Feb. 10th, 2006 06:58 amI went to bed insanely early last night. After all of the things I've done this week, I needed the rest. Of course, the more time I have to sleep, the more time I have to dream. In this dream, I was buying a huge, old house from Brian (
cincycub). A house with a bit of a secret...
I remember the house was HUGE, almost mansion sized. The house had multiple bedrooms, three refrigerators with an industrial sized ice-maker, and was full of antique furniture and decor. The house was on a large lot of property next to farm land. I was there with my mom and sister, showing them all of the cool rooms, as I had apparently already bought the house from Brian at a great price.
I remember thinking that the decor of the house was not really Brian's taste, so I figured that the furniture and decorating may have been from the previous owners before Brian bought the house. I seemed to understand that Brian hadn't owned the house long.
I drove back up to the house while Brian was moving the last of his stuff from the house with the help of some students from UC. I think he said that starving college students would do anything for a buck. While inside the house, I was getting ready to ask Brian about the house and previous owners when an old high-school buddy Chris came in. Chris walked up and hugged Brian like they knew each other. Chris turned and was surprised to see that I had bought the house. In the discussion, Chris blurted out about how the first owners of the house ran screaming from it one night after seeing ghosts haunting the place, leaving all of their furniture and belongings behind.
Brian's eyes got really big and he tried to shut him up. Per Chris, the owners had seen a ghost wearing a cowboy hat in the windows of the home. I told Chris that it was probably a neighbor as the house was next to a farm. Chris continued to tell me tale after tale about how Brian had seen ghosts in the house too, which was why he was selling so low.
When I realized I had bought a scary, haunted house, where the antiquated decor no longer looked quaint, but spooky, I woke up... Mind you, I don't think Brian would sell me a haunted house in real life :)

Fun to read of others dreams. It's an inside look at what our subconsious mind is up to. :-)
