After last night's movie and an exhausting week at work, I got up this morning for an hour and elected to go back to bed. I slept until nearly 2 PM. I guess I was really tired. Instead of the usual nightmare or bizarre dream, I did have a great dream where I got to see my dad and my grandmother, both of whom are long gone.

The dream started out with me and my dad working on a farm, presumably our farm, which we never had. I was trying to park this large work truck somewhere as it wouldn't fit in the barn or the garage. At some point I got out of the truck and tried driving it by remote control and turned it over. Dad just walked to the truck and tipped it back up and showed me how to park it back in the barn. How he got it in the barn I have no idea. He wasn't mad at me, which was surprising.

Dad and I walked up from the barn I found a whittled, three-prong stick which looked very strange. I asked Dad what it was for and he said he didn't know.

Walking from past the barn, we ended up in the back yard of my grandmother Minnie, my mom's mother, who passed away in January 2000. All of her kids and grandkids referred to her as "Mother." It seems like there were a scattering of relatives in the back yard, the majority I don't recall.

I just remember seeing Mother there. She was standing in the back yard in a long gown and her hair was thick and black like a remember it. I remembered that she was long gone and was surprised, but not frightened, to see her. She said hello to me and told me to place a three pronged stick in the ground to help tune things. I stuck it in the ground, which was soft and turned to rose petals. I sat next to my cousin Terry (the same from previous dreams) who told me not to talk to our grandmother directly because people thought he was crazy when he did it.

I asked him, "So why are we the only ones who can see her?"

With the little kid giggle I remember so well and a smile, Terry said, "I don't know."

I felt so special. I remember asking Mother how she was and she asked the same, the usual chit chat. Different family members looked at me strangely, but I just nudged Terry and they thought I was talking to him. Unfortunately, the dream ended as I woke up.

It was good to see them again. I do miss them.

Wow.

It's funny how we dream of long lost relatives. I rarely, if ever dream of my one and only grandmother whom I knew most of my life and left us in 1991. However, I do often dream of Mom and Dad fairly frequently. Mom's still around but Dad has been gone since 1998.

I do occasionally dream of my sisters, but only on occasion however.

Glad it was a nice dream.
