The Christmas Visit Thus Far...
Dec. 23rd, 2005 09:18 pmIt's been pretty calm this week. The twin has the internet back up, but let his cable get turned off (older twin to the rescue there). I've been hanging out with
aceofspace, who is in town for the holidays with his folks too. So far all is well. Some points of interest this week:
Well, one more shopping day until Christmas. For those traveling this weekend, be careful and safe journey :)
- While sitting at my sister's house, my sis asked her hubby if his mother had bought her gift at JCPenney's. He said no, that her gift came from the adult video store in town. He wouldn't say what it was, but that it came with five speeds and a crash helmet. Airbag was optional.
aceofspace and I went to O'Mally's, the bar where my buddies from Middlesboro and I rescued the waitress who had the dead car battery during my last visit home. There was a couple who came in before us and specifically asked for a waitRESS not a waitER to serve them. Of course, not to be outdone, we asked the waitress for a midget in a bikini to wait on us. The wait staff loved us, even after I asked to borrow an apron and to let me take the goofball couple's order (they wouldn't let me).- It's my Aunt Jill's birthday today. While talking to her on the phone to wish her a happy birthday, she asked when she would hear wedding bells for me. In my mind, I thought "not until the country makes it legal." From my lips, though, I just said that it wouldn't be anytime soon. The extended family doesn't know about my being "fabulous." Not really for my benefit, as much as for the crap they'd load on Mom likely. It's not like I see them anyway.
- Traffic in town is a pain right now, every Tom, Dick and Shirley is on the road shopping. I observed a rather aggrevating accident today as a minivan rear-ended a truck with a trailer hitch. I was just behind them far enough to see all the radiator fluid pour out of the bottom of the minivan. There was a "W" sticker on the minivan. I chuckled. Karma is a cruel mistress at times.
- I visited my Uncle Harold today. At 6'0" with a deep booming voice, he used to scare us kids to death. Now he's kind of sad, married three times and divorced the same, he enjoys spending time in his garage and playing with his six dogs, one horse, and five baby goats. I was there to take photos of some old family pictures from the early 1900's. I worry about who he would pass these onto in the future (not asking for it to be me specifically, but his kids have completely disowned him and I'd hate for those ungrateful shits to get them). Got the pictures photographed, so I'm happy I guess.
