It's been a long, fun weekend with the visiting [livejournal.com profile] mikiedoggie. I put everything behind cuts to keep things short for those who wish to pass :)

Mike got here late Thursday night after a horrid drive in the snow. His 4 1/2 hour trip turned into a nine hour crawl-a-thon from Chicago to here.

Friday we got up and had breakfast/lunch at Panera (I fell off the low carb wagon while he was here). Mike wanted to go to the art museums, which I am ashamed to say that I had never been to after living here for several years now. So we found our way to the Cincinnati Art Museum in Eden Park.

I was very impressed with the museum, it was a great way to spend the day, especially watching Mikie take photographs of the naughty bits of the statuary.

On the way out, we nearly passed up an exhibit called "Cat Chow," which upon first glance looked like just dresses. When you got up very close, you realized that these gowns and dresses weren't made of fabric. They were made up of all sorts of things -- band aids, sewing machine bobbins and twist-ties, and one of shredded dollar bills (my personal favorite). There was one made of one continuous white zipper that formed a long white evening gown.

It was pretty impressive actually. The artist had a video set up where she and several models actually wore the dresses in public in Chicago. They recorded all of the reactions from the various people who saw them out.

After the art museum we visited my usual comic book store followed by lunch at The Dubliner, one of the local Irish Pubs, that was just down from the comic book shop. On the way back to my place we stopped by Borders and Cold Stone Cremery at the new mall area nearby. In this midst of shopping, I did spy this very cute daddy bear and having a digital camera with the flash shut off worked out well in capturing his photo.

More musuem pics are posted here. Mike has better pics. I'm sure he'll be posting them soon.

Mike and I got up and met [livejournal.com profile] cincycub, [livejournal.com profile] _decibel_, Chris, and [livejournal.com profile] prisonbitch at Newport on the Levee. After a nice, high carb lunch at Dewey's Pizza, we all hit a matinee of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

I thought the movie was wonderful. I admit I have never read the books (not sure why). The film was very well done, easy to follow and had some great special effects. No spoilers, if that's possible, but don't take off as the credits start to roll as there is one more scene to see.

Bob, Derek, Chris, Mike and I went to Barnes & Noble for coffee and talk. Afterward, Mike and I went by to my house to get ready for the Cincinnati Mens Chorus' Christmas Show.

Brian and Derek and the rest of the guys put on a great show, very entertaining, and you got to see them do choreography while singing. After the show, Brian, Derek, Chris, Mike and I had dinner at Hamburger Mary's (along with just about everyone from the show). The food was really pretty good and I think we all had a good time.

This morning we met up with [livejournal.com profile] nonljeric, Sean and Aaron, Derek and Chris, and Brian at First Watch for brunch. The place was pretty packed, but luckily Eric had snagged us a table early on. I had pancakes (more high carb stuff -- drool). Mike grabbed a quick nap afterward and then headed on his drive home. I'm hoping that he can make it down again sometime, or maybe I can head to Chicago when the weather is nicer.

It was a good weekend, I'm tired and wish I didn't have to work tomorrow. Is it bad to wish for snow? I feel like a kid again praying for snow days.
