Grizzly & The Bear Patrol 12
Sep. 29th, 2013 10:30 amI spent a large chunk of the weekend working on getting issue #12 done, leading a few of my friends to think that I'm anti-social. I just get very engrossed when I work on the comic. This is conclusion of the three-part story I started earlier this year. I'm happy to get this one posted, as the last issue stood on a cliffhanger where Grizzly vanished after being struck by a disintegration ray. If you want to catch up on past issues, hit the "Grizzly & The Bear Patrol Comics" link at the top of my journal page.
The extended Bear Patrol family characters appear in this issue, including Focus (
rootbeer1), Universal Jack (
qbear), Ricochet (
texwriterbear) and
mikiedoggie. I hope you enjoy it. As usual, there are issue notes at the end.

Any questions, comments, or criticisms? I welcome them all. :)

- This issue was a bit of a struggle for me for some reason. I put it off a few times. The artwork didn't come as easily as it usually does and I feel like I didn't stage the scenes properly in some cases. The inking took longer, the coloring took longer. Still, I'm pleased with the end result overall.
- The Ricochet character was seen toting a bag in several scenes. It's not a purse, it's a duffle bag that contains Grizzly's costume. I had planned to have a scene where he leaves it with the healing Grizzly, but it just didn't work out that way.
- I did something odd this issue. I had drawn a panel on one of the pages and couldn't figure out for the life of me why it was there -- Page 19, panel 4. It depicts a healed Colour Cub rallying the group. Even the story and page outlines written in my hardcopy comic journal doesn't explain it. I'm guessing it was supposed to explain that the rest of the team was continuing the fight while Red Beard took Ricochet to end the battle.
- I really liked how the cover turned out this round. I took a bit of extra care in the coloring.
- I'm already plotting the next issue, but I'm taking a break over the upcoming holidays, so this will be the last issue of 2013.
