The Day After the Six Mile Run
Oct. 4th, 2012 08:34 amOW...
Earlier this week, I'd written about how I'd tanked on my four mile run. I blamed the weather, the time of day, the Earth's rotation, the alignment of Uranus, etc. I got two miles in and I was obviously disappointed, when I've been managing more than that. My doctor told me to try for 12 miles a week, so I was thinking I'd not hit the target this week.
Well, yesterday, the sun was out and Uranus was obviously in a better position, probably admiring the moons of Saturn, no doubt (that floozy). I went for a run and wondered if I could make up for the missing laps from Monday. I told myself I'd try it -- 15 laps, AKA six miles -- in a single run.
When I hit ten laps, I gave quitting a thought, thinking I'd do better next week. Then I thought of my upcoming Halloween costume and how I needed to look better in spandex, so I trudged forward. I finished up, better than I thought I would, hitting 15 laps and those pesky six miles. I was tired as my body hadn't been through that much punishment before. I stretched after, dreading what horrid pain I'd be in the next morning.
Sleep came a bit late because I stayed up to watch the new South Park episode. Heh... they really nailed Honey Boo Boo and her mom. Loved it.
I woke up this morning feeling relatively fine, just a bit of soreness, which shocks me. I guess the stretching helped.
I could use a nap though. Ooh.. and a coffee flavored milkshake...
