The Cartoon Physics Dream
Feb. 8th, 2010 10:01 amHe was giving us an exam and we had 90 minutes to complete it. It was an open book test and he made sure to let us know that our answers were in easy reach of things.
One of my new coworkers was in the class with me and he kept turning around and talking to me during the test. I was getting irritated by him, but also was losing a lot of time because I kept double-checking my answers before moving on to the next question (which is not how I usually take tests). So I left the room to take the test elsewhere.
I kept checking my answers, even using my iPhone to look things up. Some of the questions were silly, yet I kept concentrating and needlessly fussing to get them right. One was a picture of barbarians storming a castle, charging toward the gate with a battering ram and I was supposed to guess which of the next two pictures it was like: a) a drawing of an electrical plug and a socket or b) a rocket shooting into space.
I glanced at the clock and saw I only had five minutes left and I was only on the third page of many. Panic hit.. and then I woke up.
