Against Prop 8Cincinnati had their Prop 8 rally this afternoon in the rain and freezing cold. Along with Brian ([livejournal.com profile] cincycub), there were a good number of folks and familiar faces showing up to protest Proposition 8. Brian was nice enough to snap my photo, though I had a goofy look for me. I've never been to a political protest rally before and I admit that I was rather apprehensive at first, but it was very well organized, very well executed I think.

What made me happy was that it wasn't just gays and lesbians in the crowd, but heterosexual people, including parents, teachers and conscientious college students, who were there to support us. I think so many want to believe that only those affected directly do the protests, but it's not true. Big thanks to the college students who provided the signs to those of us who didn't think or get the chance to make one.

One of the real highlights was Margaret Cho who is in town to perform tonight (Brian and I have tickets). She performed a new song for the rally and I got most of it on video, though not her as the umbrellas blocked my view. Unfortunately, my camera stopped recording toward the end of her song, but the gist of it is apparent. It contains NWS language and the video is shaky so unless you want to have a Cloverfield-type reaction, you might just want to listen :)
