Then and Now
Original 1998 drawing (somewhat) and the 2008 Update

One of the best things I ever bought for myself was Photoshop. Though I have yet to use it for any of its ability to enhance photographs, it has become a favorite tool for coloring cartoons.

The drawing on the left was done in 1998 for a computer class I was conned into teaching, the graphic gracing the cover of the student manual. I added the current screen a few weeks ago for a different computer class I'm teaching in November. I submitted the toon in my powerpoint presentation a couple of weeks ago for printing.

The class coordinator for my upcoming course emailed me last week asking if they could use it for the student manual cover for the current class. He asked if I had a color version. I didn't and thought a 1998 PC for a modern computer techniques course might be a bit ironic, so I took it home last night for a revamp and some color addition. It's not perfect by any stretch, but the update at least looks more like the laptops we use now.

As [livejournal.com profile] cincycub told me last night online, I should have done this on the clock as it's for work. I just didn't want to bring my personal laptop to work to do it.
