kybearfuzz: (Dreaming)
I usually don't post a dream so late in the morning, as I often forget them soon after waking up if I don't post them or write notes on them, but last night's dream seemed to stick.

Making a Man... cut for the uninterested )

My office is holding a training class today where one of the instructors is a good friend of mine, so I stopped in to say hi. While I stood there, one of the students came up to ask me if he should make the check for the class fee out to me. I deferred him to my friend. This sort of thing happens often to me.

When I'm at the grocery store or department store, I often have people walk up to me and ask what aisle a particular product is in or what is the store policy on returns. I usually just smile and tell them that I don't work at the store. While I was off a couple of weeks ago, I went to KMart to buy some potting soil and small plants. I was wearing a dirty tee-shirt and blue jean shorts. Still, a lady came up and asked me how much a particular plant costs and seemed upset when I politely told her that I didn't work there and had no idea. As if she didn't believe me, she said, "well, I'll not ask you anything else..." Umm.. okay...

It reminds me of a Karen Walker scene from "Will & Grace" that goes something like this: Karen asks someone to get her a martini. The guy responds, "..but I don't work here..." and Karen looks at him and says, "well, that really wasn't my question, was it?"

I guess I give off the "hi, may I help you?" vibe. And if you're cute, you just might get it.

Them

I watched Them tonight, thanks to Netflix. I found out that "The Strangers" is not a remake, but just a movie that has a very similar plot, but it pales in comparison to "Them."

The film starts out with a French schoolteacher going to see her writer boyfriend at their remote house in Romania. The couple spends a quiet evening having dinner, watching television, and making the sexy stuff, when the schoolteacher hears strange noises in the large old house. The couple becomes slowly terrorized by an unknown number of assailants pounding on doors, flashing lights through windows and more until they get in the house.

The movie builds the tension up slowly and methodically with some nice startling moments. The English subtitles are not very distracting as there is a lot of action in the movie with little dialogue. The ending is very disturbing and surprising. I highly recommend it.
