Coffee and Calamity

Big Happy Birthday Howdy to aceofspace! I hope it is a great one!

This morning my office was rocked by a horrible tragedy. Our coffee machine died.

I was not there to see the events that led up to its demise. One eye-witness account stated that she was innocently using the microwave nearby when she heard a very loud pop. Sparks flew out of its rear like my backside the morning after a spicy Chipotle dinner. The coffee machine sputtered and brewed no more.

News of the passing of the beloved coffee machine went through the building at an alarming rate. Many came to observe the site in memorial, though I strongly suspect they raced there to get one last cup before the last pot got empty or cold. Many who came too late to get their morning java on this cold winter morning have become sullen and bitchy.

When I suggested that there was some instant coffee, one employee sobbed, "You just don't CARE! You never cared!!!" and ran off in a teared frenzy to her desk.

I don't care. I drink Diet Coke in the morning.
