Men in Pumps and Saw III
Oct. 29th, 2006 12:25 pmAfter three arduous hours of raking leaves yesterday (it was a bit too wet to use my leaf blower), I met up with Brian (
cincycub) at Universal Grill for appetizers before attending a Cincinnati Men's Chorus fundraiser in the bar. Men in pumps, strutting their stuff to win prizes amongst many people dressed for Hallowe'en, were here and there. LJ's own Derek (
_decibel_) wearing some stellar black boots won most comfortable and a DVD of Hellbent. I think everyone had a great time and a fair amount of money got raised.
After the event, Brian and I made our way to the Wilder theater to catch Saw III. The movie is pretty solid, has a great plot, the usual gore and intricate device, some interesting twists, and some pretty gross scenes.
I left the movie feeling a bit disappointed for some reason. I can't put my finger on it, but it seemed relatively pale in comparison it's predecessors. I think the severe tension that was present in the first just wasn't here in this one, mostly because in several instances the one in danger isn't in control of being released, but needed to rely on someone else's actions.
Did I enjoy the movie? It was good, worth seeing.
Would I see it again? Probably not.
Buy the DVD? Nah, I don't own the other two.
