Titans Double-Header
Jun. 5th, 2006 10:09 pmWell, there was no game last week because of the holiday, but we seemed to have made up for it tonight. It was a great night for the game too, sunny, but not too hot. Of course, I went for a tumble during the warm up and got a scrap on my knee. Grrrrr!
At 6:30 PM, we played theUnion Universal Grillers (formerly Hamburger Mary's). They have a really good team and gave us a good run for our money in the beginning. I spent most of the game on the bench (but at least got to bat) and then a couple of innings in right field. One teammate Charles actually hit a home run, the first I'd seen since the season started. No strike outs and a couple of base hits for me, so I was happy. Final score was 21-11.
The second game was at 7:40 PM. Since we had the hot and sunny dugout the first game, we moved to the shaded dugout the second... and got beer! :) We played Jacobs Blue Balls, who I found out is under new management. The team only has two guys with the rest of the team fielded by women, but don't let that fool you. Those gals are tough. One slid into home HEAD FIRST on a field that is like sandpaper! I played right field and then a couple of innings as catcher (to a really cute pitcher -- heh heh!). My batting was one walk and two base hits for me, scoring two of them. Again, pretty happy there. Final score was 14-4.
Andy's partner John was on-hand taking photos. When I found out if and where he posts them, I'll post a link. So far, we're 6-0 for the season. Our next game is against Simon Says at 6:30 PM next Monday. Unfortunately, I'll be in Colorado at a training class. I'm sure they'll do well without me :)
