Ireland Day One

The trip so far hasn’t been bad. I didn’t have internet access for the most part on the journey, so I typed some of this entry in Word with the idea that I’ll copy and past it into LJ later. It’s a bit much, so I cut this for those who would rather pass on it.

I'm beat, been traveling for 14 hours total. I know I'm not supposed to sleep, but I just don't think I can stay up much longer. And the voltage converter for my iBook may not be working, which is giving me some worry. The good thing, the internet is working :)

Later today, or possibly tomorrow, exploring Limerick....

Ireland Day One -- Part Two

My brief nap turned into several hours. I was exhausted, the flight really wore me out. I woke up and grabbed a shower and went in search of dinner.

There really isn't a lot of restaurants close to the hotel, it's a bit outside of the city, which is both nice and not. The hotel has a lot of amenities -- gym, bar, WIFI, etc. -- but is too far to walk quickly to any thing else. So I elected to eat at the bar/restaurant tonight. I was sitting at the bar, waiting for the bartender to bring me my pint of Guinness, when this cute furry skinny guy popped down next to me. His name is Tim. I was surprised that he chose the stool next to mine, as the bar wasn't busy. He introduced himself, ordered a pint and we started talking immediately. He was so friendly, I honestly thought he was hitting on me, until other people showed up at the bar and started doing the same thing, just chatting with the person next to them. I know they didn't know each other as they asked for names, etc. I was shocked how friendly everyone is, it's sadly not an American trait and I wish it were.

After dinner and a beer, I said bye to Tim. He invited me out with his friends tonight, but the idea of going out with some complete strangers wasn't comfortable. Also, I was still tired and dying for more sleep. So I said hey to some 411 guys and I'm looking forward to seeing the sights tomorrow.
