kybearfuzz: (Movie Buff)

My mom and stepdad went on their way this afternoon, so I decided to take in a late afternoon matinee of The Fog. You know I can't turn down a ghost story/horror movie.

Yeah, I think you left the iron on...

On its own merits, I liked the movie. The special effects were great, the story was interesting. I especially liked the way the fog would roll in out of the ocean. The way that ghosts would form out of the fog was neat too.

Rade Serbedzija plays Capt. BlakeThe movie also had a few bearded seadogs to view. Well, the story is set in a seafaring city on an island. The actor who plays Captain Blake in the flashbacks caught my eye. He's played by Croatian actor Rade Serbedzija, who is quite the daddy bear. Love that beard.

I will say that in comparison to the original film, it did lack in the suspenseful setup of scenes that I love about the original. The story deviated from the original a bit, developing more of the background of why the fog was returning and even had a romantic subplot. However, I also felt that it didn't sufficiently explain why the ghosts were after certain people, which was also something specific in the original.

I do recommend the movie though, if you enjoy a good ghost story.

Thanks...

I looked for a photo of him from the movie, but no luck, so I found this one instead. I'm a sucker for a graying beard :)

I think i mentioned to you before that I thought it was as good as a made for TV remake, or even a SciFi Channel movie. It could have been better if it had even a hint of suspense.
