kybearfuzz: (Oh Really??)

While was I shopping at a local department store in their electronics department, I overheard a man tell another, "I don't let him watch The Wiggles. I didn't go to court to fight for him to have him turn out like THAT."

I naturally turned to see this guy pushing his son in a cart with another person with him. It didn't take a stretch of the imagination to guess what the dad was talking about. I do feel sorry for the kid though, to have an idiot for a father who thought watching a kids program would turn his son gay.

What a moron....

Watching Martha Raye as Benita Bizzare on the Bugaloos had absolutely NOTHING to do with me being gay :)

heheh.

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

I agree though. It's a shame he's got more money than sense if he could go to court for his child.

Geez! There is a huge difference... of course, seeing Martha Raye would turn you gay (gee, that rhymes, another gay trait!).

.. but the Wiggles.. nah, they'd be more color coordinated for that. Though the pirate guy on there is pretty cute :)

Funny...I was just thinking about you earlier this afternoon.....but for some entirely different reason.

If the cartoons we watched turned us into what we saw then I would be some Asian American kid with a bad haircut and a pet monkey.....or a zonked out stoner with a talking great dane.

Gods, if it was the television and radio that makes us grow up gay then PBS and NPR have a LOT of explaining to do.

AMEN! Damn Electric Company for making me gay!

It was that damn "Easy Reader" that did it. With that song he sang..

"Soft C... Hard C... one for you and... one for me!"

"Soft C!"

"HARD C!"

No one I turned out this way.

I blame the Letterman segments with the Joan Rivers voiceovers on The Electric Company.

I blame the fact that Rita Moreno was on the show. We all know she is just a big ole homo magnet! :-)

Oh I can still remember seeing West Side Story for the first time as a little kid. My whole family watched it on TV. And I told everyone that it was the same woman from the Electric Company. My mom, my dad and both sisters told me I was wrong.

I hold this over their heads to this day.

Good for you!

And you know Oscar Winner Morgan Freeman was on the show as well!

Strange, how we were introduced to so many stage actors through that show. I read a website about the show once and Rita Moreno said that not only was it a steady job for then struggling actors, but that it was a lot of fun.

Cart or Horse?

Hmm... I think if the media is responsible, it happened stepwise for me:

(1) Davy and Goliath
(2) a combination of Mr. Rogers and Mr. Dressup (from CBC)
(3) all that Bugs Bunny crossdressing
(4) Alan Sues on Laugh-In and Paul Lynde on Bewitched
(5) Ethel Merman recordings on the radio (notably Annie, Get Your Gun

and last but not least, (6) Bert and Ernie, though I really didn't notice them till The Muppet Show. Of course, they were helped by Beverly Sills, who sang "Sempre libera" in their grand operetta Pigoletto.

He'll be no worse shape if he turns out gay than if he turns out straight. He'll more than likely always have an asshole for a dad. At least if he's queer the fucker will have a reason to question his bigotry.

I'd feel sorry for him if he does, his father is an @$$hole.

First of all, I agree the father is a dumbshit for his comment.

However, that said, I did watch Zoom, the Electric Company, Sesame Street, Saturday morning cartoons, Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies 'toons and a bunch of other stuff of that ilk while growing up.

Did that make me gay, maybe, maybe not but the end result is I am gay and that's that. :-)

Oh, if watching these things made kids gay, there would be a lot more of us running around -- an entire generation of gays and lesbians running about with very few straight kids.

Talented. What he doesn't want his kid to be is talented.

Now now, I'm sure his father will push him into a family business of sorts, like working at the sewage treatment plant or owning a trailer park.
