I've seen a few of these "about me" lists, I couldn't come up with 100 or even 50 items. So here are Twenty-Five Random Things About Me ...

  1. I hate hominy.
  2. I designed my high school’s first full color yearbook cover.
  3. My eyes are deep, dark brown, nearly black. My grandfather’s were the same. I’m the only one of his 18 grandchildren who has them.
  4. I once saved a man’s life with the Heimlich Maneuver in a KFC.
  5. My favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate.
  6. I finished first grade in two months.
  7. I graduated 4th in my class of 133 in high school.
  8. My first nephew was born when I was two.
  9. When playing little league baseball, I never hit a single ball in a game.
  10. During little league baseball practice, I often hit the ball out of the park.
  11. For the most part, I suck at sports.
  12. I’ve never been hospitalized.
  13. I’m the fourth of five kids, the older half of the younger set of twin boys.
  14. I got drunk for the only time at 23, it was a doozy.
  15. I grew my first beard at 19.
  16. I grew the goatee I wear now for a Halloween costume in 1998, I’ve kept it ever since.
  17. My favorite beer is Murphy’s Irish Stout on tap, which is hard to find. I usually drink Guinness.
  18. I wouldn’t repeat high school for all the money in the world.
  19. My first two albums I ever bought with my own money were Laura Branigan’s Branigan and Fleetwood Mac’s Mirage.
  20. My oldest friend that I keep in touch with is [livejournal.com profile] bleuvalentines, since 1980 and third grade.
  21. My favorite horror movie is The Fog
  22. One of my earliest memories is a television commercial for TV Guide announcing there is a new Angel in town. It was when Cheryl Ladd replaced Farrah Fawcett on Charlie’s Angels in 1977.
  23. The rock group KISS scared the heck out of me when I was a kid.
  24. My first pet was a duck.
  25. I learned the f-word from the boys bathroom wall in elementary school in second grade. I got in trouble for saying it later and didn’t know what it meant for years to come.

So are you looking forward to the remake?

I am actually. The previews for it look really good. I'm not sure if it will have the same suspenseful eerie air (no pun intended) as the original, but I'm eager to see how the storyline is done with modern special effects.

I've heard some people complain that it's going to be rated PG-13 when the original was rated R. The original had no nudity and only a little gore really, but there was no PG-13 rating back then to define the gray area between PG and R. By today's standards I think the original would have gone PG-13.

LOL.. I wore that Branigan cassette out (I still have it somewhere). All in all it's not the worst song you could be humming, I still enjoy it. :)

Ah, the compliment is well-deserved, you are adorable, if I may flirt so early in the morning :)

Oh, I've always loved a pint of Guinness. When I was in Ireland a couple of months ago, it was flowing like water. I don't think I had a dinner that didn't include at least one pint. Oh happy times...

You and I share a love of stouts.

How'd you end up with a pet duck?

Ah, I love a stout beer. When I first started drinking (in my early 20's believe it or not), my friends told me that I would hate them so they always convinced me not to order them. One day I just told them that if I didn't like it, it was just a waste of $4. My first Guinness was awesome.

As for the duck, it was the result of poor judgment of a gift on my dad's part. We kids had gotten the duckling as an Easter present. "Quacky" as we had named her (I was three) had a bad temperment and bit my sister on the ass once when she wasn't looking. Somehow, Quacky hooked up with some random fowl, found herself in a motherly way, and had three ducklings. My dad ended up giving all of them to a local farmer as he was tired of spraying the duck crap from the driveway.

I really want to make a comment about pet ducks like, "only in Kentucky" but I will refrain.

Mmm... Guinness makes me happy. Like a good backrub.

LOL.. actually, I think the ASPCA makes note around Easter time that people shouldn't give ducklings as pets around that holiday as they do get older and they are not good pets for kids. Apparently they get dumped soon after the holiday and newness ends.

... yum on the Guinness.. :)

A-freakin-MEAN to #18!

You get even more cool points on #21 for being a fan of THE FOG. Even though the effects look pretty good in the trailer for the remake, I have a big issue with them rehashing all of the horror classics. They've already butchered Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of the Dead.

And, stripedtiger is right, your eyes are absolutely beautiful, Mark. ;)

Well, I'll try to judge The Fog remake by itself, some of the scenes from the trailer suggests they've added to it.

... and thanks for the compliment :)

I'm not even sure I know what hominy is. Being a good southern Georgia boy...I can only assume it is close to 'grits'.
as for your eyes....they are VERY pleasing to look at, as is the rest of you (at least what i've seen on lj) and you've seen more of me, than I have of you. ;-)

Hominy is the most disgusting food in the world, in my opinion. It's corn kernels that have been soaked and bleached in lye with their hulls removed. Something in the caustic soaking alters the smell and the flavor that just turns my stomach. It's like garlic to a vampire to me.

And thanks for the compliment, cute guy :)

SHAME on you!

Ah, my singular drunken experience is deserving of an LJ entry of it's own. I was so sick and so miserable that I never wanted to repeat it. I generally have one beer, sometimes two, but that's about it for me in a night.
