It's been a rather dreary day here in the office. So many of my coworkers are out for various reaons, I'm writing a report that is unbelievably dull, I've been drowsy all day, and I'm getting more and more antsy about my work trip. Couple that with some personal issues and my overall lethargy and you have my current mood. I thought about taking off early today, but the thunderstorm that rolled into the area killed that idea.

I was thinking about it being only Tuesday and I remembered a book called "Tuesday" by David Wiesner. It's a children's picture book about an event where all of the lily pads suddenly start floating and the frogs fly rampantly throughout a small town in the middle of the night.

The Flying Frog Force

Tuesday by David Wiesner

The book has always made me grin and the artwork is beautiful. I think this office could use some inspired lunacy today.... now where are my damn whoopee cushions....

I love those surreal pictures...really kick-starts the imagination on the day before hump day....
whoppie cushions would definitely be high in demand on this ho-hum, no-one-seems-to-be-in-a-good-mood kind of day. :)

Thanks, I love children's books with some great artwork. I need to go buy some self-inflating whoopee cushions to see what deviltry I can get into.

.. and I have really enjoyed your photos the last few entries :)

Thanks, handsome. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the photos, Mark. I have enjoyed reading/lurking thru your LJ as well.
Ever since I was young child reading Maurice Sendak's illustrated book "Little Bear", I have enjoyed finding children's books with great artwork as well. Probably my current enjoyment has to do with the fact that I want to be an elementary school teacher too, but I love it regardless.
One of my favorite illustrated children's books is "The Last Resort" by J. Patrick Lewis, illustrated by Roberto Innocenti and, of course anything by Maurice Sendak. :)

My favorites right now include Chris Van Allsburg ("The Polar Express"). You should check out his book, "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick," it's one of those books that really makes your imagination wander. The book is a series of one panel/one caption drawings, each with the title of the story it's from, but you have to make up the story as they're not printed.

Don and Audrey Wood are also very good, check out "King Bidgood's in the Bathtub" and "The Napping House"... hilarious.

My Tuesdays usually go like the illustration. Instead of frogs, though, I'm usually bombarded with vampire bats.

Hope you survived your Tuesday.

YIKES!
I'll have nightmares tonight. My brother used to chase me with frogs/garter snakes/other small slimy creatures. No wonder I don't like being outside.

Wam-peer bats? YIKES! My brother used to chase me with...

Hope you've found time to have a nap.
