First, a big LJ welcome to behrfox, who started his journal last night after we'd had coffee and I had showed him how neat this site could be. He's a really sweet guy and very interesting. :)

Second, a big welcome back to stripedtiger and biggaloot! I've missed you guys.

Third, here is the picture from this weekend's manic search of small town KY.


Circa 1979 -- four sets of twins

I'm that grinning kid at the far right, the infamous twin next to me. We were one of three sets of twins in my first grade class, one of four sets in the elementary school total. I didn't attach the story because it was poorly written, has two misspelled words, and is full of some really dumb comments by the twin (who at six didn't know better) and my dad (who at 45 should have). Still, it's odd to see this picture again, it brings back so many memories, specifically that giant Campbell's soup can from the old library (it's above the fourth kid from the right). For some reason, I always thought that it was such a neat thing.

Wow ... that was two years (?) before I knew you! Weird. You're one of those people that is "always" there so it's weird to see a photo from before I knew ya! *laugh* =)

So I recognize Shauna and Sherri on the far left, but who are the other twins? Gene and Gerry moved into the area later on, right? I can't place the other folks at all!

LOL... it is strange, isn't it?

The two boys next to Joe and me are Roy and David Petrey, they graduated from Corbin with Joe. The blond boy and dark haired girl in the middle are William and Lora Matthews. As I recall, they moved away after first grade.

I wish I had the original photograph of this, but I'm sure the Times threw it out long ago.

The name "Petrey" is ringing a bell with me, but I think it's only because one of the orthodontists Mom worked with was named Petrey. I don't recognize the others at all, but that would make sense if they moved away (I didn't move to Corbin until half-way through second grade ... and didn't start in the city schools until third).

In the case of my twin and me, we're more like brothers born at the same time. No bizarre twin experiences for us really :)
