While at work today, dodging the oddities of management and such, my buddy Tim called to see if I wanted to go see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy tonight. He said the missus was watching the kid, so he was free. Naturally, I went as my plans for heading home this weekend fell through.

We went to the Rave in West Chester, which was the site of this horrible movie experience. With the swarm of teenage brats present, I was fearing a repeat event. The usher at the movie made an announcement that talking was to be taken outside after the movie had started. My guess is that they've had more than a few complaints.

The movie was actually really good, I think they captured Douglas Adams' quirky sense of humor, from what little of his work I've read. I especially liked the guide itself, with it's humorous descriptions of things. I'm sure hardcore Adams' fans will disagree, but I had a good time, which was the most important thing.

I’ve read nothing but good reviews of this movie.

And every single one of them begins with “Now, I’ve never read the book, but…”

Well, I'm sure there are folks out there who wont like it, but that happens with every film. I personally enjoyed it. :)

I've read the books, but I don't consider myself a hardcore fan. I'm going tonight to see the movie. I'll let you know what I think of it. Oh and I have picked out a photo from 1988. I will try to post it this weekend.

Sorry your plans fell through. Next weekend would be better for you. It's Mother's Day. And she did make you that nice quilt...Guilt guilt :)

Hugs handsome

[livejournal.com profile] versakub and I went to see it last ngiht with the Seattle movie bears.

I liked it, I laughed out loud a couple of times, I may get it when it comes out on DVD. As we stood up to leave, Fester (aka versakub) blurted out "I want my 2 hours back".

I think you have to enjoy British humor to really like the movie. It reminded me so much of Monty Python for some reason.
