Shopping Fever
Dec. 28th, 2004 08:25 pmAfter work, I hit Sam's Club and Wal-Mart, trying to find a wireless Game Cube controller for the twin's birthday present. No luck, but I managed to snag a few things for me naturally. I found the second season of Gilmore Girls, which I love.
When I was in college, I took a class called "Humor Writing," which taught us to write and analyze humor in all forms. I recall our first assignment, to write ten original jokes the next day. Sounds easy in theory, but I found that's it damn hard in practice. You have to write 30 to get ten decent jokes and only one would likely garner chuckles, if you were lucky. We did learn to recognize good writing after a while, Gilmore Girls has such good and witty dialogue, in my opinion.

It's called "Vicious Trollop"...
Emily: "That's a pretty color, what is that?"
Lorelai: "It's called 'Vicious Trollop'"
Emily: "Oh, stop it!"
(Lorelai turns the lipstick tube to Emily so she can read the color.)
Emily: "Now why would you name a lipstick something like that?"
Lorelai: "Because 'Dirty Whore' was taken?"
Emily: "You frighten me..."
I just love lines like those.... ;)
