Hometown Tourist Part II
Sep. 25th, 2003 04:59 pmTook yesterday off to goof around and sleep, but got an early jump on today. Decided to run about town shooting pictures of familiar places. Started at the Crystal Kitchen restaurant where the sign still says "Hamburgers 5 cents". It's been closed for years, but it's still reminiscent of the 1950's. If someone does open it someday, they'll have to change the sign or likely will get hit with a false advertisement lawsuit.
Hit the train depot, my old house, Lynn Camp Creek (which I've fallen in more times than I care to count), my old schools, and the old ball fields. My old elementary school is still there (and one of the teachers caught my eye in the window, nice looking bear, just smiled and waived). The creek next to my old elementary school is particularly familiar. I remember certain folks who lived on the other side. Odd sort of people (Heather, I know you're reading ;D ). Lots of good memories running about these places.
Strangely, everything has changed quite a bit over the last thirteen years, back when I left for college. The pictures show it. Some good, some not so. Ah well, change is inevitable.
Went back to Levi Jackson State Park for another go around. Hit the museum and found out some depressing information. It may be that I'm not related to ol' Levi after all. Some of the information I've found versus what I've been given by family members don't jive. It bears more research, but I think we're not kin. Sad, but true. As no inheritance is at stake, I think I'll get over it. ;)
Well, I started early and now I'm beat early... again. Going to nap and then hit dinner.
