Exciting Saturday.... not..
Oct. 10th, 2004 12:39 amMy plans for the movies today fell through. My buddies went to see Friday Night Lights. I have a natural aversion to any movie that portrays football as some sappy, religious, life-altering, coming-of-age storyline. I'll explain the origin of my aversion to football some other time. To those who enjoy such movies, my apologies, but I'll be damned if I slap down $9 to see it.
I had some free time today, so I decided to clean the carpets. Exciting, I know, but I had been planning to do this for some time. I rented a Rug Doctor at Kroger's, cleaned the rug, and then took it back within the day. The teeny-bopper chick at the service desk gave me fits. I had to repeat my name twice to her, which isn't a problem, as my last name rhymes with "Pardon". She proceeded to charge me for an additional day because I was "late." I had to remind her that today was the 9th, the same day I rented it. She had me sign the return receipt and then told me to leave it sitting in a crowded grocery, because she would put it up "in a while". Uh-uh... Anyone could have walked off with it and they had my credit card on file for it. So, I stood there staring at her until someone locked it up. She then turned from me and I had to ask for a copy of the receipt. She gave me the "you're interrupting my phone time" look and gave me a receipt.
Maybe it was an off mood for me, but it irritated me that customer service has dropped so much in quality over the years.. A sign I'm getting old?
