Bring Your Children to Work Day
Apr. 22nd, 2004 08:02 pmOkay, I am exhausted.
We had almost 40 kids in the office today, about half were between 8 and 12 years old. Most of the kids were okay, but there was this one that I had to keep my eye on the whole time. If I told him not to touch a $500,000 piece of equipment, he wouldn't.. for about 20 seconds. He was all over and hard to keep track of during presentations and lab demonstrations. To add to it, he started dragging some of the other little boys along with him. I was mostly there to take pictures and ended up being a full-time chaperone.
I actually managed to keep him interested during my presentation on inspections, surprisingly enough. When we ended the day with certificates, gift bags, and cookies, I was utterly wasted. It was a good day, but I admit I'm glad it only happens once a year and is actually more like once every four years for my office.
