I felt a bit achy on Thursday, but figured it was due to working out. I ran 3.4 miles outside and just figured I'd not had good form. By Friday, my nose started running and I was having sneezing fits that got progressively worse through the day. Again, I was thinking it might have been an allergic reaction from running outdoors in this very mild winter. By Friday night, I caved in and knew I had a cold. I've been taking the usual DayQuil/NyQuil shots and eating Vitamin C gummies like candy. I'm hoping I'm on the upswing.

Last night, I had the most unusual dream that I've had a in a LONG time. I put it behind the cut, because it's a lengthy description.

I was a Lieutenant in Starfleet and we'd been dealing with some odd alien presence on board. While we investigated, the ship was celebrating Mardi Gras. I was sitting at a table with friends, one of whom had announced that she was pregnant and I believe the father of the baby was one of the other guys at the table, a nice looking African-American guy.

We were supposed to be watching a video presentation of the Mardi Gras celebration on Earth. The video was odd, and looked like an odd countdown video, the numbers masked by odd cutouts. When the countdown was done, a mysterious figure appeared and announced that they were after the father of the baby but gave no specifics.

Near anarchy ensued as I tried to keep track of him. We found the officer who had downloaded the video. She was disheveled, wearing a crystal tiara with messed up hair. She claimed that the video was titled "party" when she found it.

Suddenly, the scene blinked and I was in high school, trying to find my locker and combination. I blame the NyQuil.

The next scene has me at a farm setting. I'm walking by a barn and see a poor, little girl digging in the dirt.

"When people go, they always leave us a casserole, but Momma didn't leave one," she said. I walked past her puzzled.

I ran into her father, a furry ginger bear in overhauls. We were walking to the edge of a hill looking down on a large creek. Down at the creek, a pregnant woman and her husband were wading into the deep part. She was about to give birth and was apparently going to have a water birth in the clear water of the creek.

"I helped deliver all three of mine that way," the ginger bear said. I complimented him on such a feat.

We turned and walked away to give the couple their privacy when we heard a loud scream, not the kind you would hear from a delivery, but something horrific and terrifying.

We ran back to the edge and saw the pregnant woman clutching the newborn, the water murky with blood. I saw her husband's severed arm float up the surface and drift away from them. Her husband was floating face down in the water. On the creek bank on the opposite side I saw a fuzzy figure, nearly invisible, attack the mother and take baby. The alien and baby then disappeared into what looked like a green, glowing soccer ball.

The ball flew up from the bank and over our heads and headed for the ginger bear's house. Their house was very modern looking, very flat with lots of large glass panels, not at all what you'd expect on a farm. The ginger bear and I ran toward the house, his three young kids just playing in the field ignoring the ball. The ball was bouncing against the front door, its color had changed to red, and every hit made that "dodgeball" sound. *P-ting!*

And then I woke up!

Wow! I thought I had some strange dreams. The ones I seem to remember mostly have zombies in them. The rest I only remember waking up thinking "OMG that was weird" and promptly forget the dream. It would be cool to remember the details like you do.

I understand this completely. Last night, for me, included a a troupe of orangutans speaking Very Proper British English complaining about Gabon Gibbons and "their pompous French". It went downhill from there.

Double-shot Kroger Nyquil: Three thumbs Up.

Yeah, it was the NyQuil. LOL

I'm amazed that you can remember such detail.

I often write down details of the dream when I wake up before I forget them. I started doing this a few years ago, especially when they are so freaky.

That double-shot of Nyquil is a necessary evil when you feel this way.

I often jot down notes about the dream before I forget it.

I wonder if anyone has ever studied why people tend to forget dreams so soon after they wake up. I know if I haven't taken notes, I tend to forget most of it.
