Buying a single book because of a cute salesperson is no big deal. I once ended up with like 8 at a convention to get a chance to flirt with the cute guy behind the table (whom I got to make out with later on, so score).
You should totally create the fan page. Thing is, while you have a big fanbase here, it'll get even bigger on FB when we all start recommending it. :) I'd even post the link in the Gay League mailing list :)
