The Branch Boss of December

Today was the first day I was the branch director. I'll be the acting branch director for the month of December. I don't think I stopped moving all day. While it makes the day move faster, it's getting increasingly difficult to get out of the office on time. Worst of all, I don't seem to have to check LJ or anything else.

I'm learning that one of the big jobs of being the boss is that you have to assess conflicts and discern if there is any one side at fault. I'm discovering that each side appears to carry some level of fault.

I did manage to squeeze in a showing of Tangled over the weekend. The Disney version of the story of Rapunzel, it was actually a very cute movie, not overdone, but very humorous in parts and sentimental in others. Keep your eye open for the cupid, that's all I'm saying.

Sadly, not much else to report. Very busy. Very tired.

I really did enjoy Tangled. It was a lot of fun. I liked Rapunzel's personality...she was spunky and shy at the same time.

Is this rotation of responsibilities typical for your employer? I'm sure you'll do a splendid job!

I enjoyed Tangled immensely! I haven't been able to do much other than work since because of illness, but I seemed to have turned a corner today!

You ARE a fast learner! The trick is in making each side find that level of fault without them feeling like they're being blasted. Another is in pointing out and breaking behavior patterns that perpetuate conflicts. Easier said than done.

How are you doing now, health-wise? I worked so much and got so little sleep last week that I'm once again fighting off something... though I'd like to think I'll be more successful this time. Only time will tell, though. Tomorrow's another day. Hope you're getting better!

I volunteered to do this temporary move because I thought it would be a good experience and would help me later. Whew.. it's going to be something, that's for sure.

And I loved the sort of conflicted nature of her personality. When she went through that bout of exhilaration and guilt, I loved it. :)

We've had a series of "details" where people from different branches are getting to try out different positions we're qualified for. This is my second one. I've joked that we have had more actors in the building than a theater.

I thought Tangled was very fun. I really want to see it again. I thought the King in the movie was a hottie.

And I hope you're feeling better :)

I've felt pretty good the past couple of days. Today at lunch, I actually had what would be considered a normal meal. The past two weeks it's been crackers, rice, gatorade .... I lost that pesky 20 lbs I wanted to, but there are easier ways ...
