kybearfuzz: (Movie Buff)

I have managed to sneak in a few movies this week since I've been off, though I can't say any of them were Oscar-worthy.

Bearded Hotness in Hatchet II
AJ Bowen (right) stars in "Hatchet II"

I went to see Hatchet II on Sunday. The sequel to "Hatchet" stars off right where the first one left off. The return of hatchet-throwing Victor Crowley in an alligator-filled swamp. Lots of blood and gore. I saw two sets of naked boobies before the opening credits. There was at least this beautiful guy above in the movie, by the name of AJ Bowen. I liked the movie for what it was :)

Last night, I watched a movie I got in the mail from Amazon, one from my childhood and it is an excellent flick. Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a 1981 Made-for-TV horror movie, but was written as a feature film. It stars Charles Durning as a man who heads a vigilante mob to hunt down a mentally-disabled man (Larry Drake) who they believe has killed a local child. When the mob finds the man hiding as a scarecrow, they gun him down only to later find out that he had saved the child, not killed her. They get off a murder charge by lying, only to find themselves being systematically hunted by a mysterious scarecrow that appears outside their homes.

This is one of my favorite movies. I think I actually saw its initial airing in 1981 and it freaked me out then. It's so original, so creepy, and so well-acted. It has a cult following and has finally been released on DVD. I highly recommend it.
