Retro Info Needed

kybearfuzzHey all. I need a bit of help, especially from those of you who remember the 1970's better than I do. Most of my vague memories are from the late 70's and it's hard to remember what people wore.
Did guys go about in vests without shirts in the 70's or was that more of a late 60's thing? I need the info for the next comic book installment.
