You reminded me of a 1964 musical, "Ben Franklin in Paris", in which dear old Ben gets to sing a rousing little bar tune called "God Bless the Human Elbow" ... because it enables us to bring a glass of the good stuff to our lips. First time I tried stout was when I was doing a play called "The Weir" - takes place in an Irish country pub, which was fun to re-create on stage. I had been warned that stout was an 'acquired taste'.... took me about four seconds to acquire it - LOL
