After getting home yesterday, I decided to take down the tree and decorations. It took about 30 minutes, which should tell you how much I put up. Murphy the cat was "helping"... or not helping... Once the tree was down, I took down the wreath from the front door, boxed everything up and vacuumed the living room.

I chatted a bit online, ate dinner, and snuggled down on the couch with Maggie the cat in my lap. I heard a noise at the front door like someone was opening the screen door and letting it close. Maggie's ears perked up too. I opened the front door to find Murphy staring at me through the screen. I figured he'd been outside for the last THREE HOURS, since I had the door open to get the wreath down! And now the big pussy wanted in from cold...

Most people wouldn't have viewed this as a big deal, but Murphy has no claws (done to him by his previous owner not me... back off PETA!). As such, he can't climb trees or fight with other cats (unless he sits on them, he's a big boy). He seemed very happy to be back indoors and very vocal. I thought of all the horrible things that could have happened to him while he was outside. I'm going to have to be extra careful from now on.

It freaked me out, but good. I don't think he's ever been outside that long on his own as he was raised as an indoor cat. I didn't even realize he was gone as he usually hides when the vacuum cleaner is running. I figured he was asleep somewhere in the house as usual.

YIKES! I totally understand how scary that would be to find that out. I'm glad Murphy is okay.

Glad to hear he is OK.

Years ago, I did have a cat that was declawed, but was still an outdoor cat. He just loved it out there. Thank goodness nothing ever happened to him.

You don't leave up all the decorations for the full 12 Days of Christmas?

LOL... he's fine, he says "hello"... or is that "feed me..."?

Thanks! Ideally, nothing would happen to him, but he's never been around moving cars except to go to the vet and I have no idea how he'd handle being out in the street area. I'm glad yours was fine, he was street-wise I'm sure.
