The Kinsey Sicks does Dragapella

My buddy Karl introduced me to The Kinsey Sicks. He didn't have their music on his computer to play for me, but being a member of the Portland Gay Men's Chorus, he sang me a few bars of their rendition of The Rose by Bette Midler. I was laughing hysterically.

The group is a drag accapella group who sings parodies of well-known tunes with a unique spin on them. If you go to their website, you can listen to and download some samples, including the aforementioned The Rose, which is wonderful. I also highly recommend the I Wanna Be a Republican tune. Some of the lyrics might not be work-safe.

Their website says they will be performing in Louisville next month (date not set yet), so a small trip down might be in order.

Update: The Kinsey Sicks have been hired as the entertainment for the Beaux Arts Ball in Louisville on September 29th. It's a black tie fundraiser and at $140/ticket. It'd be nice to go, but I think I may just buy their DVD.

I've been a fan of the Kinseys for several years now and know that you'll love them. While the drag schtick is what you first notice, the interesting part is that they're all very, very good singers and entertainers.

I acquired "Sicks And the City" from friends in Toledo a few years ago. They are a hoot!!!

We contacted The Kinsey Sicks and they gave us permission to perform their Christmas show as part of our season. We really wanted to do it, but decided last minute to not do it. It could have been hysterical, but I wasn't sure about casting it.
