I haven't posted much lately, not much worthy of the effort I guess of late. Here are a few positive moments from the last week or so. I'll deal with the negative ones myself.

  • Netflix is working out well. So far, only one of the three I've rented have been that good, but it's good to rent them and find them out then buying them to find that out. I'm impressed so far with the turn-around time too.
  • Lots of work-related eye candy this week. There will be an inspired (potentially NWS) cartoon later. :)
  • I got a $100 award at work this week in the form of a gift card. I need to spend it soon as it has an expiry. I've been thinking about buying the DVD's of Star Trek: Voyager, so this would get me started. I wonder just what season I should start with. I saw a YouTube video of the two days worth of scenes that were filmed with Genevieve Bujold in the role of Captain Janeway before she quit. The show really dodged a bullet with that one, as she was terrible. The two videos are here and here for those interested.
  • Softball starts up again this Monday night. I really enjoyed playing last year, so I'm glad the next season is here. The Titans (my team) plays the 9 PM game. Details (directions, schedules, etc.) for interested parties are on the website.

hey, are you up for a free preview of "Year of the Dog" at Showcase Cincy in Norwood next Thursday? It's at 7:30, and I've got passes.

Hey Paco, it's great to see you too, and thanks for the shoulder :)

LOL... And you're asking a gay man a question about sports? (joke) To the best of my knowledge there are three major differences between baseball and softball...
  1. The size of the ball. Baseballs are about the size of an orange, softballs are larger, about the size of a grapefruit. They are made from the same material and feel the same.
  2. The pitching. Baseballs are thrown overhanded. Softballs are thrown mainly underhanded. There is fast-pitch underhand, which sometime can be just as fast as baseballs. My league is slow-pitch, thrown at an arc toward home plate and the batter.
  3. The number of players on the field. In baseball, there are three outfielders -- left field, centerfield and right. In softball, we can have four outfielders with two in centerfield.

Most other rules are the same. And my team has a logo they like so I'll not be drawing it, but the logo is really good :)

I don't deny that Bujold is a good actress, but you can tell she wasn't that enthusiastic about the role. Did you see the face she made at the end of the scene with Tuvok? The rumor mill stated that she didn't want to deal with the demands of a series' filming schedule. Personally I think Kate Mulgrew was an excellent choice and surprised she wasn't first.

And I've never heard of Year of the Dog, what's it about?

Hey, thanks for the explanation :)

So the differences are basically about balls, what you do with your hand (up or down) and with how many people you do it... hummm.... I think a gay man is perfect to explain all that LOL

Hugs
