My mom and brother, who are not crazy about me batting for the other team, worried about me when I came out because they said I was "going to have a hard life." It's hard to convince them that the years up to the point I came out were not all that rosy.
The whole "Prudie" thing is tongue-in-cheek. Even the columnist herself makes fun of it, and the fact she speaks of herself in the 3rd person.
