It's sad really. Basically, if it is an inherent trait, it puts the "blame" on the genetics of the people who had the child. And as we know, no one wants to take "blame" for anything. Also, if it is inherent in the person, how can you crucify us for our feelings and behavior, like so many evangelists love to do. The answer is they can't, hence the opposition to the idea that we were born gay.
