It is definitely weird when your parents get romantically involved and you're aware of it. It's still a little weird to see my dad with someone...with my mom, he wasn't particularly affectionate, so I never saw a lot of hugging or kissing or evidence of any kind of intimacy, you know? But then when he started dating again and wanting to buy women flowers, corsages, etc., and asking me what they would like (She likes bagels - should I take her a bagel at the office? - etc.), it was a little weird. And when he started dating someone he's obviously very involved with, it was *really* weird. He never slept in the same room with my *mom* - at least not in history I could remember. But now all of a sudden he can share a room with this new woman...and seeing little affectionate notes, etc. around the house really gave me a jolt. But in the long run, she's totally bringing out the best in him, and if he's able to have what appears to be a normal, affectionate relationship, I guess I'm happy about that.
With your mom, I guess it'll just take some getting used to. Has she been single for a long time, or is she recently single?
