Smoking Kills
And you thought your morning sucked....

  • I saw this on the highway on my way to work, traffic was just starting to build up and was slow enough for me to whip out the camera for a photo. My day seemed brighter in comparison to this poor guy.
  • While eating lunch solo at Chipotle today, the bear parade came through. One cute cub of a guy with dark hair, a goatee, and glasses caught my attention. He reminded me of Erich ([livejournal.com profile] bookish_cub) and I'm sure everyone knows how handsome he is! There was also a blue-collar bear with more scruff than beard, but with a lean muscular body that looked like he held a jackhammer all day. Sigh... the last was a nice burly daddy bear, thick WHITE beard that was well-groomed and kind, Santa Claus eyes. I needed a cold shower after lunch today.
  • Softball game on Monday night went well, but it was a late game. It was a close game until the last inning. We won 13-8. I batted poorly, but did a beautiful slide into second base to avoid getting out. The twin would have been proud. I was happy to see Derek ([livejournal.com profile] _decibel_) and Chris come out to the game. Our next game is Monday, July 10th, but I'll be out of town :(
  • Had a steady parade of DVD's showing up this week from Amazon. I received a $100 gift certificate at work and went crazy. The booty thus far -- Medium Season 1 on DVD, Tamara, Sordid Lives, Prom Night, Happy Birthday to Me, and He Knows You're Alone. I was going crazy for the old (and new) horror movies. Thank heavens for Amazon Marketplace for cheap DVD's. I'll post more about the movies later.
  • I bought a mountain bike on Sunday for exercise. I rode it for three days. I returned it today. It hurt my butt to ride it (insert joke, go on.. you know you want to). I'll search for another bike this weekend.
  • Mom is here tonight. She and my stepdad are visiting his family and is staying tonight with me. In a rare nostalgic moment, Mom looked at the time and said "shouldn't you be getting bed soon, you have to get up early tomorrow..." I haven't heard that from her since I was in junior high and laughed out loud. "Yes, Mommy..." :P

We have a couple of friends that are serious, serious bikers ... (lj user="johnames") is one of 'em, but he never posts anything. ;) Anyhoo ... I remember them making comments about how buying yourself the perfect seat was the way to go for comfort!

Indeed if the frame is the correct size for you then usually it's the seat that gives the pain rather than the whole bike. In fact I find that after a break away from cycling I always end up saddle sore for a while until I get used to it again. I found some reviews here http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/saddle/. I have the Specialized Body Geometry saddle, it's designed for men and is designed to relieve pressure on the sensitive perineal area - if you get my drift. Looking at the reviews for it though it isn't viewed as the most comfortable seat.

Insert one of my favorite quotables from my soon to be former roommate. He spent the day bike riding (which he hadn't done in quite some time) and tells a friend of ours, "I think I bruised my taint." lol

The guy wasn't so cute and I didn't get a chance to see the cop who was helping :)

While the seat was the major thing, I think I grew to dislike the bike as a whole anyway. I'll do some bike shopping this weekend.

I have a bike seat cover for when I take my spinning classes, so I may try that when I get the new one.

Well, the bike didn't feel right to me, so there is a good chance that I didn't have the right size bike anyway. I'll be looking for a new one over the weekend. And thanks for the link, it'll come in handy :)

"My Country Queens...How would I survive without them..." There is nothing better out there...Of course Sissie and her rubber band run a very close second :-)

Just saw the new Del Shore (author of Sordid Lives)play "Southern Baptist Sissies" here in Louisville. Can't wait to see that made into a movie as well. What a hoot!

Oh I've heard of "Southern Baptist Sissies" and can't wait to see it, I'm sure it'll ring closer to home than Sordid Lives did :)
