The Hills Have Eyes PosterMy folks were supposed to come visit this weekend, but my stepdad has a cold, so my plans fell through. It's okay, I'd rather have them comfortable back home than on the road for three hours in such a condition.

I got up today and decided to hit the movies (big shock to all I'm sure). I decided to see a matinee of The Hills Have Eyes remake. I had never seen the original 1977 film, but had heard bits and pieces of the story. The story revolves around a family who are driving their way to San Diego through the desert, only to be attacked by a family of killers, mutated by desert atomic bomb tests from the 1950's conducted by the U.S. Government.

The movie has that creepy feel to it, the family being stalked by unseen people. The film is pretty graphic, showing many killings and maimings as the story progresses. I admit I was on the edge of my seat for a large portion of it. There are some tense moments where I wondered if a character is going to get attacked and he didn't and where I thought a person was safe and they are not. I don't spook easily, but there were things in this movie that made me cringe.

For once, the theater was actually quiet during a movie, I was shocked. That shouldn't be the exception, but it seems that lately it has been. After the film, I snuck into a showing of Final Destination 3 some 20 minutes into the movie. It's not an honest thing to do, but considering that the last time I went to see the movie a second time, I left in disgust due to some idiot parents bringing their four year old daughter to see it. When she asked her mommy why the lady was on fire, I just had to exit. So, I feel like this was me getting my second showing finally. Yeah, I'm rationalizing... get over it. :)

On The Hills Have Eyes...

Did I enjoy it? Yes, very much.
Would I watch it again? Yeah.
Will I buy the DVD? Probably.

Glad to hear the film was good - I loved the original and was afraid it'd be ruined by a crap remake.

I never dared sneak into a film like that... So, will you be getting piercings and tattoos to go with your new bad ass image?

If you're really into creepy, off-the-wall type flicks, remember Silent Hill will be released in April. Oddly enough....yet another creepy flick with the word "hill" in it. I'm not sure if the hill in the latter movie has eyes. I AM, however, fairly certain it has genitalia.

I don't know if I could get away with sneaking into a movie here in NewYork, but back in Cali, my good friend Managed the AMC 30 so I rarely paid for movies. Here they are very expensive. Some theaters charge $14.00

Well, I used to do it off and on when I was in Kansas City. A friend of mine and I would go see a movie and when a movie was done, we'd sneak into another theater. Most places are run by teenagers these days and don't really care if you sneak in or not. It's sad, but true.
