After parking at the Levee, I walked down to the Monmouth Theatre and made it there about 45 minutes before the show. It's a very nice intimate theatre, felt very cozy. I sat in the lobby waiting for the tickets to go on sale, only to find [livejournal.com profile] cincy_dave and [livejournal.com profile] mickeymac manning the ticket counter.

"The Mystery of Irma Vep" is a very quick paced play about the mysterious death of the wife of an English nobleman and the relationship between his new wife and the staff of the house. It includes mummies, werewolves, and vampires. I just couldn't resist a story like that.

The play was wonderful. Two actors, Jay Dallas Benson and Brian Benz, played all of the roles, male and female. It was entertaining to see them do a costume change in mere seconds off stage and appear as another character. It was even more entertaining to see one character have a discussion with another of his characters just off stage. Both actors were also very attractive (well, when they weren't in drag).

The play only runs one more night (tonight) and tickets are $15 for non-seniors and non-students. More info about the play and making reservations here.

After the play, Dave, Rob and I made our way back to the Levee for a very late dinner at the Claddagh Irish Pub. Irish Beef and Guinness Stew is SOOOOO good.. and there was so much of it... I slept with a very full tummy last night...
