Halloween Sewing Challenge
Oct. 12th, 2017 10:05 pmSome of my softball buddies thrown an annual Halloween party. I've been struggling with costume ideas this year for some reason. Earlier this week, I finally decided on a costume for this year, but I'm having trouble finding the necessary pieces for it. So, with a little over a week to go before the party, I've resigned myself to sewing the costume myself.
One of the things I brought back from my mom's when we cleared it out was a sewing machine (she had three!) I watched a YouTube video on how to prepare the machine for use, such as threading a bobbin. I pulled the machine out to make sure it had all the pieces and, luckily, Mom left the machine threaded after her last use, so I'm one step ahead there.
Today I bought the material. Tonight, I measured out the design on it and pinned it. It only took an hour. I'm very apprehensive about doing this because I've never done it before and I'm worried about screwing it up. However, I'm finding that the steps really aren't that bad once they're done.
I'll be sewing the ends of the costume tomorrow. If that goes well, I'll be preparing the designs to add to the costume with the iron-on transfers. It would be great if I could have it finished over the weekend.
I don't want to give the costume idea away. I'll post pics when I get it finished.
