Her Royal Brightness, Little Miss SUV
Oct. 31st, 2013 07:53 amIt's been that sort of week. Nothing spectacular happening, but nothing really bad either, and I can accept that sort of feeling. The weather is shifting and it seems to be leaving me with this perpetual feeling of blah and tiredness. Again, nothing unusual for the season.
Yesterday, I was driving home from work and had slowed down on street to let a car merge in front of me. The car had its turn signal on, I was being neighborly. Suddenly, from behind, I hear this blare of a horn. In my rearview mirror, I see some lady driving her red SUV. I assumed it was her that gave me the horn. Once the car merged in front of me, I just gave a casual wave in the mirror, letting her know that I got her message or whatever.
I'm not sure if she thought I flashed her the bird instead, because she kicked on her brights on her vehicle. I assumed this was an intimidation move on her part to let me know that she meant business. Sometimes I have to wonder if this some odd behavior that SUV owners have, as I've seen this sort of thing before. More likely, it's just her being a bitch.
Either way, I had to laugh. Turning your brights on someone in the middle of the day, even overcast as it was, really failed in its desired effect. I could still see, they were not blinding me, so her intent to add an exclamation point to her aggression fizzled and I thought it was humorous. Her car lights were obviously brighter than she was. She followed me onto the state highway, brights still on and hugging my bumper, so being a good citizen I immediately slowed to the speed limit. Safety first, y'all.
Little Miss SUV followed me onto the interstate where she got lost in the merging traffic. I saw her get off the first exit. I'd have waived again, if I thought she could see me.
Ironically, her attempt to faze me actually put me in a better mood. My workout at home was fast and furious, but good and I settled in for a bit of drawing and some Netflix.
